FMSCI, the motorsports governing body in India, has updated with new regulations introducing 4WD cars to be able to participate and knocking out the existing Group N+ 2000 category, which was heavily modded 2 liter engine with FWD. According to the new regulations, there would be two separate Championships for Domestic and Foriegn drivers/teams to compete in their exclusive Championships and it makes the future sound more exciting. Although the 4WD cars in India are almost not heard of and it makes us think will it ever be held! The lower in the cc categories are now only Group N and much in favour of the younger talents. The much seasoned drivers/teams have to either look out for importing a 4WD car (like Skoda S2000) or get a kit of them and build the rest of the car or simply now get on the N 2000 cars.

The 2012 Rally Championship will comprise of:

• IRC (INDIAN RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP) – Homologated FIA N & N4 cars up to 2000 cc.

• International Zone Drivers eligible to take part in addition to Indian drivers.

• INRC (INDIAN NATIONAL RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP) – Group N & Group R2, 1601-2000cc, 2wd Homologated cars only.

• JINRC (JUNIOR INDIAN NATIONAL RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP) – For drivers below
  27 years of age as on 01/06/2012 – Group N up to 1600cc, 2wd homologated
  cars only.


• Indian Drivers will have to register with the FMSCI to be eligible for Overall and Class Championships.


• The Highest Placed INDIAN DRIVER in the Overall Championship standings will be crowned the INDIAN NATIONAL RALLY CHAMPION 2012

  FMSCI INDIAN NATIONAL RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 Calendar:

1.   Round - : 28 - 29 JULY- RALLY OF COIMBATORE, 


2.   Round - : 01 - 02 SEPTEMBER - K1000, 


3.   Round - : 21 - 22 SEPTEMBER - TBA, 


4.   Round - : 03 - 04 NOVEMBER - TBA, 


5.   Round - : 24 - 25 NOVEMBER - COFFEE DAY RALLY CHIKMAGALUR,
   
   
6.   Round - : 22 - 23 DECEMBER- NASHIK RALLY

The revised calendar for the 2012 INRC is downsized in the no of events and will be as follows:

1. K1000 Rally             : 21-23 September 2012 : KMSC, Bangalore 


2. Rally de Mysore       : 19-21 October 2012 : Motorsports Inc., Mysore


3. Rally of Chikmagalur : 16-18 November 2012 : MSCC, Chikmagalur 


4. Rally of Maharashtra : 21-23 December 2012 : WISA, Nashik.
