The season 2012 finale is scheduled this weekend [just a couple of days from now] at the seaside tourist town of Salou, Spain. Championships have been taken, but still the season finisher is equally exciting for its dual surfaced stages, i.e., it is run both on asphalt and gravel. Though the first two stages that is going to be run twice for the event opening day, it is the later stages which has the best attraction [much like the Formula 1 tracks] which is winding and smooth, and has all those stuff normally any other rally has. But this year's stages are equally spread over three days, totalling to 18 stages for the event.

The first day has a proper mix surface stages, with Terra Alta [44.02]kms of mix surface stage run twice, it will be interesting how the teams and crews tackle them with the tyre strategy in mind. In my opinion, proper tyre conservationist will win the first day's stages & hence has a greater chance to take home the trophy. The next two days, the event gets on pure tarmac spec and the cars have to be prepared from gravel/mix spec to asphalt in limited period of time.

Last year's event, saw Petter & Block yielding at the same corner & hitting the same obstacle and nearly breaking the similar parts off their cars in the opening leg of the rally. Hanging dust seemed to be another big issue in last year's rally and starting order will be of a greater importance for the first day too. The qualifying stage should even out the competition for their grids.

Watch this space for timely updates..
